Big Time USA Prospect!

What 2000 DOB American will be sending shockwaves through the WHL as 16 years old rookie shortly? At this point, we see no better candidate for the honor than Ryan O'Reilly (2000, Dallas Stars Elite Hockey Club, 5'10", 170 pounds), a kid who's consistently been stunning scouts this year with his quality showings against older, bigger, more mature competition. In our opinion Ryan will follow in his brother Brendan's footsteps to the NHL promised land one day as a high draft pick!

Blade Jenkins

Many smaller framed forwards get marginalized playing against bigger opponents, however, the ordinary rules of thumb don't apply to such special talents as Blade Jenkins (2000, Detroit Compuware U15, 5'10", 155, F), a skilled, intense and innately smart forward with a high battle level, who we think is one of the biggest finds the University of Michigan has made on the hockey scouting scene over the last five years, bar none!

Dawson Barteaux

If were calling the shots in the WHL bantam draft process and making fateful decisions on which prospects deserve first round selection honors we would, without a doubt, settle for Dawson Barteaux (D, 2000, Foxwarren), one of the most improved defensemen in all of Canada, who has gone from being at the back of the scouting pack as a small and underpowered D to becoming one of the most highly regarded presences on the WHL recruiting scene this year!

Brenden Saether

At one point of time scouts viewed Saether (D - Abbotsford - Apr 04 2000 - 6'3 - 185) as a much to raw prospect for prime time, however, Brenden has won him over with his passion for the game and willingness to protect his teammates from harm. There is a big market for players like Saether, and it’s our expectation an astute general manager in the WHL is going to realize his team needs a soldier like Brenden playing for his team, and doing the dirty work in the trenches that few players have the courage to partake in for the betterment of the program!

Luke Toporowski

(620 words) - With the WHL draft approaching in western Canada for the 2001’s, we are expecting eligible 2001 forward Toporowski (@luketop77, @ktopper77, Chicago Mission, 5'10, 162) to be a high first round draft pick (if he is willing to report to the league, and if he is given a special exemption like his older brother). One of our Illinois area scouts stepped up to the plate this weekend to fill us in on the details as to why he believes this prospect is on the fast-track to one day being a household name in NHL, D1 and WHL scouting circles.
